“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” -Nelson Mandela
“Adversity is the state in which man most easily becomes acquainted with himself.” -John Wooden
“One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity.”
Phew. It’s weird to be back here. Nearly a month has passed without me posting or responding to any comments on my blog. I re-visited WordPress various times the past few weeks, wanting to write, but the words just couldn’t come to me. However, in lieu of some recent events, I have found a great topic to write about.
Over the past week or so, I fought for something I believed in, and faced a lot of adversity and opposition. Regardless of the fact that I knew in my heart that what I believed was right, there were quite a few people who didn’t agree with me. It has been a rough week to say the least, but even so, I continued fighting. I feel worn out and tired after all of this, but I received valuable insight from a friend of mine that I would like to share. “No matter how loud and headstrong an opposition is, it shouldn’t stop you from what what you believe in.”
In life, people will disagree with us and won’t always see things our way. This is merely part of the way things work, and we cannot help that. Things can get tough, and times can be hard, but we must stand tall and man our grounds. Otherwise, there is no point in having our own beliefs and views, if we aren’t willing to defend them. If you know that what you believe in is right, and you have a gut instinct telling you to stick with your beliefs, than do not give up, regardless of how strong the opposition is. So when everything is all said and done, when it comes to following what you believe in, don’t let anyone tell you that you’re otherwise.
