Simple Quote Sunday

“Every person must decide whether to walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness. This is the judgment. Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?”

I’m not so sure about that “what are you doing for ?” part because it implies a separation and duality that I don’t buy into, Dan. Since we are each an individual expression of the One, then, in my mind at least, it follows that whatever we do keeping the Whole in mind is walking in the Light. I also don’t buy into the concept of altruism because the implication is that whatever the act it is offered with no expectation of reward. Paradoxically, doing good is a personal reward and benefit in itself and can be quite addictive, lol! Thanks for the banquet for thought! xoxoM😉

Hi Margarita, I hope everything is going well! You definitely bring up some valid points! The way I interpreted the “what are you doing” part is that we can always ask ourselves what we can be doing to try and help somebody else in their time of need. While keeping this question in the back of our minds, we will hopefully be more likely to lend a helping hand to those around us, whenever needed. I’m so glad you commented because you helped me view this quote in a new light, and it’s always a treat to see how everyone interprets quotes!🙂
